Why people reach out
You may feel constantly on edge, disconnected from others, or caught in reactions you do not fully understand. Perhaps a painful experience, addiction, grief, or a major life change has left you unsure how to move forward.
Chris starts by listening to what life is like for you now. Together, you can work on practical ways to cope while exploring the experiences, beliefs, and habits that keep you feeling stuck. Your goals help shape the work.
About Chris
Chris is a father of three adult sons and has lived in recovery for nearly 40 years. In his own recovery, honesty, humility, accountability, and a willingness to keep growing became guiding values.
After working in a detoxification facility, he returned to graduate school at 52 to become a counselor. He brings professional training and lived experience to the same conversation: a place to look honestly at your life without being shamed for what you find.
His Christian faith is a source of wisdom and hope in his own life. Faith enters counseling when you want it to. People of every faith and no faith are welcome.

The approach
Chris’s recovery and reflective writing return to a simple question: how do you want to live, and what can you practice today?
Choose a quality you want to live by, such as patience or honesty. Give it a place in one small action today. Reflect, learn, and practice again.
Your past contributes to the pattern. New choices can gradually shift the average. Begin by noticing familiar reactions with curiosity, then practice a response that reflects your values.
You cannot control another person’s choices. You can take responsibility for your own words and actions. Chris values an honest look inward that leaves room for grief, uncertainty, and kindness toward yourself.
